Welcome to the Arizona League of Nursing
Hi! I am Catherine Mohammed your new President of the Arizona League for Nursing. I am excited to be able to lead our organization to continued growth and importance in the state of Arizona. I bring to this organization many years of leadership and experience and in working with this professional organization of proudful nurse educators. In my second tenure as president, I wish to lead our goals of more Certified Nurse Educators and Schools of Excellence in the great state of Arizona!
This organization is one of only around 20 state constituencies of the National League for Nursing (NLN). The NLN is the oldest nursing organization in the country-started in 1893! We will be celebrating the 130th Anniversary at the NLN Summit in National Harbor, Maryland this upcoming September (28-30th). Phoenix hosted the NLN Summit in 2014 and Las Vegas (2015; 2022) and I expect it to be hosted here again soon. If you have never been to the Summit, it is an amazing experience! The values of the NLN are Caring, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence. The organization sponsors leadership programs, a simulation center (SIRC) and seminars/conferences, scholarships and grants, and even writing for publication workshops! In addition, there are resources to assist you in obtaining your Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification.
Our state constituency is young,15 years old, and is growing at a steady rate. We encourage all nurse educators to join but you do not have to be an educator to join. Most of the Colleges of Nursing in the state do belong and the membership rate is very reasonable-only $20.00 a year. We offer access to our website, volunteer activities, discounts to local conferences, and keep you up to date with the national initiatives.
Our big educational event for this year is a CNE Preparation Course for Arizonan nurse educators. The date is Friday October 13th, 2023 at Gateway Community College. Please Save this Date and look for the registration information as soon as it is available. Our guest facilitator is Judith W. Herrman, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, FAAN. She is a representative of Nurse Think ™ and an example of the caliber of speakers that this organization brings to Arizona not only to enrich us as nurse educators but to provide leadership and professional skills as well. Once again, please consider joining the organization and being involved in this important and influential nursing organization.
In your service,
Catherine J. Mohammed PhD, MPhil, MN, RN
