NLN Encourages Accreditation for Programs Across the Academic Spectrum
The NLN, which was the first organization to introduce accreditation in nursing programs, encourages all nursing schools and programs to pursue accreditation to ensure they are recognized by the public and current and prospective nursing students as reputable, quality programs. In the wake of “Operation Nightingale,” which brought federal charges in the alleged illegal sale of fraudulent diplomas and transcripts, accreditation by qualified accreditors is more important than ever to provide public confidence in nursing education. Read More

Intentional Inclusivity: Two Novel Programs Transforming Nursing Education
When the nursing workforce is more representative of the communities they care for, access to quality care and patient outcomes improve for all. But building a diverse workforce requires intentional inclusivity across the professional pipeline – including the nursing school environment. Two unique programs funded by Johnson & Johnson’s Our Race to Health Equity initiative are proactively working to improve the experience of nurses and nursing students of color. Led by the NLN, one project supports nursing students of color in transitioning into clinical practice. Read More

Nonprofits Offer New Board Opportunity for Nurses
The Nurses on Boards Coalition has received seven new requests for nurses to join a board of directors, advisory board, or committee:
  • Alzheimer's Association of Delaware Valley, which leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Must be a Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania resident. Deadline March 7. Apply Now
  • Gift of Adoption, which provides financial assistance to complete domestic and international adoptions. Must live in the New York City metro area or able to easily drive there. Deadline March 7. Apply Now
  • Public Art Advisory Board: City of Orlando, which establishes a Public Art Master Plan and recommends specific projects, selection of art works, and landscaping and architectural enhancements for Orlando. Must be a Florida resident. Deadline March 7. Apply Now
  • Affordable Housing Committee: City of Orlando, which reviews established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, etc., and recommends to the mayor and city council specific initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing.   • Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota & North Dakota, which leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Must be a Minnesota or North Dakota resident; preference given to those in the St. Cloud, Minnesota, area. Deadline March 15. Apply Now
  • DMV Early Childhood Nutrition Taskforce, which provides nutrition education programs to local childcare and community service organizations. Must be a DC, Maryland, or Virginia resident. Deadline March 15. Apply Now
  • Holden's Hope, which supports families of infants who have long medical stays in the hospital and families coping with miscarriages, stillbirths or the loss of an infant. Must be a Louisiana resident. Deadline March 15. Apply Now
Emotional Intelligence & Critical Thinking in Practical Nursing Students
Research Participant Request: The purpose of this study is to determine if the four dimensions (wellbeing, emotionality, sociability, and self-control) overall and individually predict an individual's critical thinking in practical nursing students.
