Message from the President
Hi everyone! I am so excited for the many things on the horizon for the Arizona League for Nursing. In this time of the continued pandemic, our inability to meet with our member face to face has empowered us to think differently and more innovatively. The board members met on January 8th and we developed the AzLN 2021 Strategic Plan. We have the optimism to have our Fall Conference -probably October yet we will still have scholarship periods, elections, and other educational offerings. We will continue to bring you the National League for Nursing’s information, call for action for work groups (see below) and educational tools and webinars.
We have as one of our strategic goals is to promote and assist educators across Arizona to obtain their CNE certifications. We will have communications coming out shortly to share our CNE Scholarship. In addition, we will have elections coming this spring as well. Please consider joining the board as a more active and engaged member of the association either as an elected position or interest in joining a work group such as the Conference Planning Committee. Our most important strategic goal for this year is to communicate with you more effectively, more frequently, and more thoroughly to enhance your career as a nurse educator.
National News:
National League for Nursing President and CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, is one of the elite women in health care named a 2021 Modern Healthcare Luminary, a special awards category that recognizes health care executives of distinction from its ranking of Top 25 Women Leaders in Healthcare. This is Dr. Malone’s second Luminary honor since the designation was inaugurated a year ago; she was chosen for the first list in January 2020 of Minority Healthcare Luminaries.
Modern Healthcare Luminaries are executives whose careers have transformed health care through novel policies, advocacy, programming and other initiatives to effect vital changes in health care access, delivery and outcomes. In positions of top leadership within their organizations and in the public eye, they are perennial figures in Modern Healthcare’s respected awards programs.
Dr. Malone will be formally honored at a virtual awards celebration on July 23 as part of a two-day virtual Women Leaders in Healthcare Conference. Conference participants will gain knowledge, insight and guidance from the leading women in the industry on career advancement, informed decision-making, and enhancing skill sets. It will also be an opportunity for networking among a community committed to personal and professional development, open to sharing common challenges and celebrating success on the road to advancement in health care.
